Parents Need To Know: Important Injections For Babies 0-6 Months

Children aged 0-6 months are subject to immature resistance, susceptible to diseases and suffering severe complications. Vaccinating your baby fully and on time not only helps increase resistance and prevent diseases for children but also helps children develop healthy.

Let’s learn with the American International Clinic (AIH Clinic) which vaccines can protect your baby through different stages, mom! 

► For newborns: 

  • Hepatitis B: Within 24 hours after birth, your child will be vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine to help them fight against hepatitis B. The vaccine will be repeated in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 15-18th months. 
  • BCG vaccine against TB: vaccinate infants before discharge to protect them from primary tuberculosis and other serious tuberculosis. 

► For children 2 -4 months old:  

  • 6-in-1 vaccine : Vaccine against 6 diseases (whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus, polio, hepatitis B and Hib) combined in 1 injection. Children are vaccinated at 2, 3, 4 months old and again when they are 15-18 months old. 
  • Rotavirus vaccine that causes diarrhea: children are given 2 doses (Rotarix) or 3 doses (Rotateq), separated 
  • Pneumococcal vaccine (Synflorix, Prevenar 13) prevents otitis media, pneumonia, meningitis, etc., caused by pneumococcal disease. Children will be vaccinated with 3 basic doses 1 month apart, starting at 2 months of age and a 4th booster dose at a minimum of 3 doses at 6 months. 

► For 6-month-old children :  

Vacigrip/Influvac to prevent Seasonal Influenza: Influenza vaccination should be given to children from 6 months of age with 2 doses 1 month apart and repeated annually to prevent serious complications of influenza pneumonia. 

 

These are important shots for optimal protection during the first 6 months of a baby’s preterm life. Parents, please give your baby the full dose and schedule according to the doctor’s recommendations to achieve the best effect!
