What are the causes of sudden deafness?
Up to now, most of the causes are unclear. The following reasons are related to sudden deafness:
Virus infection (mumps, chickenpox, herpes zoster, influenza, etc.) damages cochlear nerve cells.
-Injury: temporal bone fracture, pressure injury, noise exposure.
-Drug-induced ototoxicity: aminoglycoside antibiotics, salicylates (aspirin), non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, diuretics, and cancer drugs.
-Acoustic neuroma
-Autoimmune disease
-Vascular disease resulting in insufficient blood supply to the inner ear
What is sudden deafness?
Sudden deafness that begins with rapid or sudden hearing loss within a few hours, usually occurs when you wake up in the morning.
-Sudden hearing loss usually occurs in one ear.
-Feeling of ear plugs and tinnitus.
Hearing loss>30 dB at three consecutive frequencies.
-Some people have dizziness.
How to treat sudden deafness?
Sudden deafness is an acute ear disease. The earlier the treatment is needed, the higher the possibility of recovery. The treatment includes:
-Taking corticosteroids is the first consideration of the pomegranate.
-Varicose veins.
-Hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
-Supplement magnesium, zinc and vitamin B.
-Antivirus.
-Treat according to the cause.
