Tips Coaxing Children To Bathe Easily

For some young children, bathing is an unpleasant experience. It could be because the change in temperature makes the child feel uncomfortable or simply because the child does not like the feeling of lying in the bath… Whatever the reason your child hates bathing, it will make parents confused. trouble every time you give your child a bath.  

Here are some “great tricks” Parents should refer to to be able to coax children to bathe more easily!  

To prepare your child for an “ideal” bath, parents should: 

► For newborns: 

  • Prepare a private bathtub for the children. 
  • Make sure the water temperature is close to the body temperature. 
  • Keep eye contact with your child. 
  • Talk to your child about what they want to do in the bath. 

► For toddlers or older:  

  • Initially, parents should let the child sit in the basin without water and give the child a sponge bath. Once your baby is more comfortable, add some water to the tub and slowly increase the amount.  
  • Equipped with a non-slip pad so that your child doesn’t have to worry about falling while taking a bath.  
  • Some children may be afraid of large bathtubs. Therefore, parents should put the baby bath tub inside the large tub for a while until the child gets used to this. 
  • Parents can bathe with their children, sit them between their legs or sit on their lap so that the child feels safe during the bath.  
  • If a child is afraid of the sound of water running down the drain, after bathing, parents should take the child to the bathroom first and then empty the water in the tub or pull out the large tub’s water holder.  
  • If your child is afraid of bathing due to soap running in his eyes or ears, you should be extra careful when bathing him and only use products that are not irritating to the eyes made specifically for children.  
  • Try changing the time of day you shower. Some children prefer a bath in the morning, when they are not tired and cranky. 

Besides, to make baby’s bath time more enjoyable, parents can:  

  • Buy special toys just for bath time.  
  • Have your child bathe with their siblings.  
  • Sing, read, and play games while your baby showers.  
  • If your child is old enough, you can choose a soft, specially colored towel to use exclusively during bath time.
